Patient Story – Monty

MONTY

Monty is a 9 month old King Charles Cavalier Spaniel who came to see us for elbow pain.  We took xrays of his front legs which showed a small crack in Monty’s elbow joint that would need to have surgical repair. A CT scan was required to produce a more detailed image of the joint and allow a 3D model of his elbow to be made to ensure the metal implants were the correct size.  Nicci, one of the Orthopaedic Surgeons from Provetsurg then performed the surgery using a technique called “Transcondylar Screw Placement”.
A metal screw was placed across part of the humerus to stabilise the elbow joint.
After 6 weeks of rest Monty was able to build back to his normal exercise routine and he is doing very well.
