A bat-tastic surprise at Mulberry House!
Look who fluttered into our care — a long-eared bat! These incredible little creatures are a rare sight, and we feel so lucky to have the chance to help one up close.
Long-eared bats are known for their HUGE ears (almost as long as their body!) and their super quiet flight — like tiny, furry ninjas of the night.
They’re a protected species in the UK and not something we see every day in practice!
This little one is being kept warm and calm while we liaise with local bat rescue experts to make sure it gets the specialist care it needs. Fun fact: Long-eared bats can even hear a moth’s wings flutter! How amazing is that?
Please remember: if you ever find a bat in trouble, don’t handle it directly — pop it in a box with air holes, wear gloves, and contact your local bat rescue.
