At Mulberry House we will be integrating conventional veterinary medicine with evidence-based acupuncture techniques passed down through generations.
How does acupuncture work?
Research suggests that acupuncture in animals works through several mechanisms:
Nerve stimulation which alters the way the brain process pain
Release of natural painkillers such as endorphins
Reduces muscle tension
How to be prepared for your acupuncture consultation?
Clean and dry is most important (even on rainy days!)
Please no strenuous exercise on the morning of OR after your appointment (please use it as a day of relaxation)
What to expect in and after an acupuncture consultation?
We want your pets acupuncture consult to be as relaxing as possible
Acupuncture shouldn’t be painful but what your pet may feel is a warming sensation, tingling or a slight pressure
Depending on what suits you and your pet best, they can have their acupuncture in the consult room with you or be admitted for some nurse cuddles and treatment in the hospital
We hope you see an improvement after your pets 1st treatment session
How long are treatment courses?
For management of an osteoarthritis cases the initial course generally involves one treatment per week for 3-5 weeks. Following this the treatment frequency will be tailored personally to your pet. For osteoarthritis treatment most dogs will likely need one session a month.
How much does acupuncture cost?
£80 for initial 40 minute consultation
£60 for follow up 40 minute consultation
